The Museum
As all of the museums – a claustrophobic place with thousand pieces of history. That was my first impression of a historical museum in Jerusalem. But when I stepped in the atrium with beautiful dresses, that tackled my attention and curiosity was awake again.

Jewellery and outfits through centuries, Picasso and Monnet, Freud and Egyptian masks – a mixture of history into the great interior and exterior. Impossible to visit and remember everything, but the reason to come back once in the future.

Through and Around the Old City
Everywhere is crowded on the streets, just in between hundreds of people are giving their best to reach the place of their pilgrimage. Some of them are on the religious tours, some are shopacolic, a lot of them try to earn on their everyday job behind the showcases with sweets and souvenirs. Tourists and passengers are very present too.
Each of them is on the same venue pushed and inspired with the different objectives, aims, goals, purposes, and at this moment I can find correlation between them – it is learning. |
Learning through and along this ancient city comes out from the mosaic of sources, and everyone might feel just like a sponge which was thrown into deep water. It takes in everything around: people, faces, outfits, behaviours – all with the backgrounds and histories; different monuments of the ancient human being on the earth languages, new smells, tastes, textures and new emotions are around us and we have to handle them. Differences are also here, around us like never before and we are here to accept and hug them.

Around Mea Shearim
The market has a very special place and a time frame in my everyday agenda, and I truly believe that inhabitants of the particular town, city or country live through marketplaces. For travellers as I am, each marketplace answers to the question “How those people handle among themselves, as well as between previous time and now, between their homes and working places, do they have prejudices and how they get over everyday obstacles and challenges”.
|
It looks like the theatre of oppressed, where roles are switching without any director. Colours textures and smells of local produce for everyone tastes make the oppression lighter, but for the traveller does not disappear challenge to put the whole impression in several sweets, spices, cakes, souvenirs and hundreds of photos to remember for the long time forward.

Who Killed the Frog
Put the frog into the pot with water and turn on the heating. As long as a temperature of water goes up the frog accommodates her body temperature until the moment of boiling, and then the frog will try to jump out the pot because she cannot handle the situation anymore but, at that moment for the frog is impossible to jump out because she lost all the strength in trying to get accommodated in the situation she faced.
Soon the frog dyes. What killed the frog? Think about it. I know many of us will say the boiling water killed the frog, but no… |
The frog was killed by her own decision to stay with the actual situation and try to accommodate. The frog was killed by her own disability to make a decision about jumping out the pot.
All of us should get together and go along with people in situations around, but also we have to have in mind when is necessary to jump out and go on forward. Sometimes we simply have to face the obstacle. If you let people to use and abuse psychologically, emotionally, physically, materially…they will continue to do that. Decide by yourself when to jump out! And have on mind: Jump out as long as you are strong enough! |
Atrocities of Holocaust
It is a terrible experience in the sense that in Yad Vashem all the cruelties and atrocities committed by the Third Reich are displayed. A visit to this museum is literally a long walk through one of the darkest chapters of history. It is hard to believe how this time in civilized history occurred and so carefully carried out across eastern, western Europe and beyond.
A tribute to six million Jewish, 1.5 million children among them who were murdered during the holocaust, and as well to people and no Jewish families who risked their lives and helped Jewish during the war vanishing. A Hall of Names, The Children’s memorial, The Alee of the Righteous Among the Nations made me to notice the irony with so many resources now invested, while back the millions of people were even denied the right to continue living for a short while to work in concentration camps. This fact illustrates the light years distance between the cruelty of these human beasts and our effort to allow an equal and accessible life to all. |
