The project we have conducted in Jerusalem, Israel was a completely new experience, working with three groups of people coming from Germany, Israel and Serbia. It was hard to reconcile those differences between people and again to go with all the similarities both in work and in a cultural sense. Project participants were divided into two groups. Micro non-fiction group dealt with the analysis of what we experienced through various activities and during tours and had to convert all those into short stories. Drawing group had the task to put stories into the comics.
While the group I was leading had to illustrate all these texts and make the comics, that finally resulted from activities into the project results. |
The group of people from 15 to 27 years old, with inexperienced youth amongst, had to arise the creative process from the very beginning, step by step: creating characters, framing, mimics and expression.
As time went on, the group showed a strong sense of togetherness, through various non-formal activities, such as educative sessions, workshops, tasks and interaction. Those positive senses made youth participants up from individuals to cooperatives, while from another perspective multiformity and cultural diversity of Jerusalem were challenges, because of the various perspectives, possibilities and occasions in front of all of us. The interaction between writing group and comic strips helped facilitators to connect all the participants in their entirety, to the great goals designed by their communication skills, multicultural awareness and exchange of experiences. |
